Saving & Organizing Your Tabs
Roc Solution includes a powerful folder-based system for saving and organizing your tabs. This guide covers everything you need to know about managing your tab library.
Understanding the Folder System
Tabs are organized in a hierarchical structure:
- Folders contain multiple tabs
- Tabs contain your recorded or edited notation
- Folders can be created, renamed, and deleted
- Tabs can be moved, reordered, and organized
Saving Your First Tab
Step 1: Create or Record a Tab
Before saving, you need a tab to save:
- Record a new tab, OR
- Edit an existing tab, OR
- Load a tab and modify it
Step 2: Open Save Dialog
1. Scroll to the Tab Display at the bottom2. Click the Save button (green button with download icon)3. The Save dialog opens
Step 3: Select or Create Folder
Option A: Use Existing Folder
- Select a folder from the dropdown
- Your tab will be saved to that folder
Option B: Create New Folder
- Select "+ Create New Folder..." from dropdown
- Enter folder name (e.g., "My Songs", "Practice", "Lessons")
- Click Create
- New folder is automatically selected
Step 4: Name Your Tab
1. Enter a descriptive name in the "Tab Name" field2. Default name is taken from the tab title3. Use clear names: "A Major Chord", "Twinkle Twinkle", etc.
Step 5: Confirm Save
1. Click Save button2. Tab is saved to the selected folder3. Dialog closes automatically4. Your tab is now stored locally
Loading Saved Tabs
Step 1: Open Load Dialog
1. Click the Load button (blue button) in Tab Display2. Load dialog opens with folder list
Step 2: Browse Folders
- Click folder name to expand/collapse
- See all tabs in that folder
- Folders show tab count: "My Songs (5 tabs)"
Step 3: Select a Tab
1. Click on any tab name to load it2. Tab loads into the Tab Display3. You can now play, edit, or record over it
Step 4: Select Folder for Learn Mode
- Click the checkmark icon next to a folder
- Folder is selected for Learn Mode auto-progression
- See "(X of Y)" indicator in Tab Display
Folder Management
Creating Folders
Method 1: During Save
- Click Save → Select "Create New Folder"
- Enter name → Create
Method 2: During Import
- Click Import → Select "Create New Folder"
- Enter name → Create
Organizing Folders
Best Practices:
- By Genre: "Rock Songs", "Jazz Standards", "Classical"
- By Difficulty: "Beginner", "Intermediate", "Advanced"
- By Purpose: "Practice", "Performances", "Lessons"
- By Artist: "Beatles", "Led Zeppelin", "Custom"
Deleting Folders
1. Open Load dialog2. Hover over folder3. Click trash icon4. Confirm deletion5. Warning: Deletes all tabs in folder!
Renaming Folders
Currently, folders are identified by their names. To "rename":1. Create new folder with desired name2. Move tabs from old folder to new3. Delete old folder

Reorder tabs within a folder:1. Open Load dialog2. Expand folder3. Click up arrow to move tab up4. Click down arrow to move tab down5. Order affects Learn Mode progression
Deleting Tabs

Tab Information
Each tab stores:
- Name: Your custom name
- Tab Data: All notation and strings
- Recorded Notes: Timing data for auto-play
- Recording Duration: Total length
- Created Date: When first saved
- Updated Date: Last modification

Creating Learning Sequences
1. Create folder: "Guitar Lessons"2. Save tabs in order:

Data Storage
Local Storage
All data is stored locally in your browser:
- Uses browser's localStorage
- No server uploads
- Private and secure
- Cleared if you clear browser data
Backup Recommendations
1. Regular Exports: Download important tabs periodically2. Cloud Storage: Save .txt files to Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.3. Multiple Browsers: Test in different browsers4. Export All: Use "Download All" for complete backup
Troubleshooting
Q: Can't find my saved tab?A: Use the search function. Also check if you saved to the correct folder.
Q: Lost all my tabs?A: Check browser localStorage settings. If cleared, restore from exported .txt files.
Q: Can I share tabs with others?A: Yes! Export tabs as .txt files and share. Others can import them.
Q: Maximum tabs per folder?A: Limited by browser storage (~5-10MB). Typically hundreds of tabs per folder.
Q: Can I move tabs between folders?A: Currently, you need to: Load tab → Save to new folder → Delete from old folder.
